In the Response Specific Instructions, it states\u00a0\u201cMultiple hospitalizations (Response 3) defines hospitalization as the patient being admitted for 24 hours or longer to an inpatient acute bed for reasons other than diagnostic testing.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><span class=\"m_7218476056335185904mcnTextContentContainer\"><br \/>\n<span class=\"m_7218476056335185904mcnTextContent\">Does \u201cinpatient acute bed\u201d include inpatient facilities other than an acute care hospital? Specifically, would admission to any or all of the following facilities be considered an \u201cinpatient acute bed\u201d for\u00a0M1033 response 3:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Free-standing Inpatient Rehabilitation Hospital<\/li>\n<li>Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit within a hospital<\/li>\n<li>Inpatient Psychiatric Hospital<\/li>\n<li>Long-Term Care Hospital<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Answer 4:<\/strong> M1033 &#8211; Risk for Hospitalization; response 3 &#8211; Multiple hospitalizations (2 or more) in the past 6 months includes <strong>only acute care hospitalizations<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Admissions to an inpatient rehabilitation hospital or unit (meaning a freestanding rehab hospital or a rehabilitation bed in a rehabilitation distinct unit of a general acute care hospital), an inpatient psychiatric hospital and long-term care hospitals (LTCHs) are <strong>excluded<\/strong> from this response option.<\/p>\n<p><strong>II.) Stay of Enrollment<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>CMS finalized a new enrollment status labeled a <strong>\u201cstay of enrollment\u201d<\/strong> at \u00a7424.541. The \u201cstay of enrollment\u201d is a preliminary, interim status \u00a0to any subsequent deactivation or revocation that represents a \u201cpause\u201d in enrollment, during which the provider or supplier would still remain enrolled in Medicare.<br \/>\n<span class=\"m_7218476056335185904mcnTextContentContainer\"><br \/>\n<span class=\"m_7218476056335185904mcnTextContent\">There are two prerequisites for a \u201cstay of enrollment\u201d implementation:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The provider or supplier must be non-compliant with at least one enrollment requirement in Title 42.<\/li>\n<li>The provider or supplier can <strong>remedy the non-compliance<\/strong> via the submission of, as applicable to the situation, a Form CMS-855 and Form CMS-588 change of information or revalidation application.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>During the period of any \u201cstay of enrollment,\u201d the provider or supplier remains enrolled in Medicare, but claims submitted by the provider or supplier with dates of service within the stay period will be rejected rather than denied as was proposed. \u00a0Claims submitted by the provider or supplier with dates of service within the \u201cstay of enrollment\u201d period are eligible for payment and may be resubmitted by the provider or supplier if they have come into compliance within the 60 day stay period.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The \u201cstay of enrollment\u201d will last no longer than 60 days.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>II.)
